What kind of media institution would distribute your media product and why?

In our analasis we looked at Napoleon Dynamite which has a comedy gender. Its is also a USA film which has a high budget. It was published by Paramount pictures. Our film was kind of similar to this film.

How did you attract/address your audience?

We left the audience in a little bit of suspence in a way they wer not sure pf the direction the film was goin in untill the final clip where by the key finally opens the door, as a result it gives a very unique feeling of uncertaintaint in a non threatening comedic way. simulary we didnt use any dialouge and only music and basic sound effects as it is entirely visual but the sound effects working with the picture create a relationship between the picture and the audio in a way that usually is missed by real-life audio, the subtleness of the humour "blink and you'll miss it" requires more attention and can leave the veiwer in a muddled state. as a result the intimacy we have tried to create in a satirical portrayal of a adolesent 18yr old hopes to attract an audience of simular quailtys to the main characater

Location Stills

All of these location stills were captured at Luke's home, which we decided would be the place of our opening sequence in which Sebastian awakes and proceeds downstairs.

Treatment and Location

This is our location for our main task. The street and this house will be mainly our filming area. However other locations may also be used.

Treatment
The main character wakes up to the sound of his alarm clock ringing, thisbis shown through a close up of the clock. A second close up follows this of the charcter waking up from a long and fulfilling sleep.

A high angle shot is then used to show the charcter rubbing his eyes as he begins to wake up emphasising the fact that he is a very tired teenager. A close up of the characters toes touching the floor shows him getting out of bed to begin his day.

The character then sits on the end of his bed before getting up. A tracking shot is then used to show the character walking out of his bedroom and in to his bathroom. The character then comes out of his toilet dressed and ready to leave his house.

A medium shot shows the character clutching the door handle before leaving the house. A long shout from down the street shows him leaving his garden and setting off on his journey. Further down the street the character comes across a key lay on the pavement. The character is unsure of the keys origin and begins to try it in many different doors and locations shown through a montage.

As sebastian goes to open one fo the last doors somebody opens it from the other side, hitting sebastion, playing the main character in the head, consequently knocking him out. As the character lies their on the pavement, the previous nights events begin to unfold...

Research and Analysis Videos

Below are three videos from which we have looked at using similar styles. In the American Beauty clip the charcter is shown waking up to and alarm clock lying in bed, similar to how we plan to begin our movie opening.

The Napoleon Dynamite clip is also relevant due to its subtle persona, something which we aim to achieve in our own movie, in addition to this our main character shows a clear resemblence to Napoleon Dynamite himself.

Juno again has the same calm feel that we aim to achieve, however, the opening sequence enters into a graphically enhanced world where all of the houses are white and the character appears to be sketched. In order to see if it would be possible for us to incorporate this idea we experimented with it on Adobe Photoshop.

Juno Effect (1)

These images were edited through photoshop, using several editing techniques. We felt that Juno represented a similar genre to our film, and so we attempted to recreate a similar style in our project. The cartoon style helps to project the quirky feel of our media product.
